PASCO COUNTY, FL — In response to the persistent, extreme cold air remaining in the area, Pasco County is activating additional Cold Weather Shelters on both the east and west sides of the county for the nights of Monday, November 10, and Tuesday, November 11.

The shelters are available to anyone in need of a safe, warm place to spend the night as temperatures pose a significant risk of exposure.

Both temporary shelters will open their doors at 6 p.m. each evening and will remain open until 10 a.m. the following morning.

Extreme Cold Warning

County officials stress that the extreme cold expected is dangerous for anyone who will be outside for extended periods.

“Children, the elderly, and pets are especially vulnerable to the cold, and extra care should be taken to protect them,” a county spokesperson noted in a release.

Residents are strongly urged to utilize these free resources to protect themselves and their families from the hazardous weather conditions.
