Pasco County Traffic Alert: FDOT Announces Lane Closures Starting August 2

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – Drivers traveling through Pasco County will face widespread traffic impacts starting Sunday, August 2, as the Florida Department of Transportation District 7 conducts scheduled maintenance and construction work across several key corridors through August 8.

Daytime Lane Closures

Daytime construction will affect several busy routes throughout the week. On U.S. 41 (Land O’ Lakes Boulevard) at Lake Patience Road, crews are scheduling lane closures from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Matching daytime hours will apply to State Road 54 at Henley Road, where lanes will also close between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Further east, U.S. 98 between County Road 54 and Townsend Road will see periodic lane closures and active flagging operations from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Overnight Work Zones

Nighttime drivers will also encounter several work zones designed to shift heavy construction out of peak daytime traffic. State Road 39 from U.S. 301 to the Hillsborough River bridge, located north of Jerry Road, will have nightly lane closures and flagging operations from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., running Sunday night through Thursday morning.

Along State Road 54 at Altamont Lane, crews will close lanes overnight from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. Meanwhile, work on State Road 52 between Tradeway Boulevard / Pasco Road and points west of Interstate 75 will require night closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday.

Suncoast Parkway Ramp Work

Ramp traffic along the State Road 589 (Suncoast Parkway) corridor will experience temporary lane shifts from Monday through Saturday, between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. The State Road 54 entrance ramp onto northbound SR 589 will have partial closures along its right shoulder and merge lane, though full ramp access onto the highway will remain open.

Drivers taking the southbound SR 589 exit ramps to both SR 54 and SR 52 will see partial or full right-turn lane closures, but all turns will stay open during construction hours.

Long-Term and Continuous Closures

In addition to scheduled daily work, several long-term and continuous closures remain active across the county. On State Road 52, the westbound left lane from east of SR 589 to west of SR 589 is closed around-the-clock until further notice.

The eastbound SR 52 left-turn lane onto northbound SR 589 also remains under a continuous partial closure at its west end. For trail visitors, access to the Suncoast Trail Trailhead at Touchpoint Drive is completely closed 24 hours a day, a disruption expected to continue through summer 2027.
