PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – Drivers who rely on the intersection of State Road 575 and US 301 in the Trilby and Lacoochee areas need to brace for a major shift in their daily commute. Starting early Monday morning, March 2, 2026, the east side of SR 575 at the US 301 junction will be completely closed to through traffic.

This shutdown isn’t a quick fix; officials expect the road to remain blocked off until August 2026 as crews work to replace the existing intersection with a new roundabout.

While the closure effectively cuts off the main artery at the highway, SR 575 will stay open for residents and local businesses located east of the construction zone. However, anyone trying to reach the highway from the east—or vice versa—will be forced onto a series of detours for the next several months.

To navigate around the work zone, the Florida Department of Transportation suggests drivers use Cummer Road to Bower Road to reconnect with SR 575. For those coming from the north, access is still possible from SR 50 by heading south on Burwell Road, which eventually turns into SR 575 at the Lacoochee Clay Sink Road intersection.

Local commuters should plan for extra travel time during the morning and evening rushes, as these secondary backroads are likely to see a significant uptick in volume while the roundabout takes shape.

Barring any major weather delays or supply chain issues, the intersection is slated to reopen in late summer.
