PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – Drivers in Pasco County should prepare for a busy week on the roads as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 kicks off a series of construction projects starting Sunday, March 1.

The scheduled work includes a mix of daytime lane shifts, overnight closures, and a significant weekend detour that will likely affect travel times across the county.

The work on US 19 starts Sunday night, March 1, at Marine Parkway, where crews will be closing lanes from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Thursday. Further north on US 19 at Charlene Lane, motorists can expect daytime lane closures from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. beginning Monday, March 2, and running through Friday.

Significant disruptions are also expected along US 98. Between CR 54 and Townsend Road, flagging operations and periodic lane closures will take place daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting Monday.

However, the biggest impact will occur over the weekend; US 98 between CR 54 and Old Lakeland Highway will be completely closed and detoured starting at 8 p.m. Friday, March 6, until 6 a.m. Monday, March 9.

In the eastern part of the county, a long-term closure begins Monday, March 2, at the SR 575 intersection on the east side of US 301.

This area will be closed around-the-clock and is not expected to reopen until July 2026. Nearby, CR 54 from west of Flint Drive to US 301 will see flagging operations and lane closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the work week.

Finally, drivers using SR 54 between Virginia City Drive and Old Mill Pond Drive should watch for lane closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. FDOT advises all travelers to stay alert, follow posted detour signs, and allow for extra travel time during these scheduled improvements.
