PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – Pasco County drivers should prepare for extra travel time starting this weekend as state road crews launch a heavy schedule of maintenance and construction projects across the county’s busiest thoroughfares.
According to the latest tracking data from the Florida Department of Transportation, the upcoming work will involve a mix of daytime closures, overnight flagger operations, and several indefinite, round-the-clock lane restrictions.
Commuters traveling along US 41 (Land O’ Lakes Boulevard) will face daytime lane closures at the Lake Patience Road intersection. Crews will be active at this site from Monday, June 29, through Friday, July 3, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Additionally, drivers on US 98 should anticipate periodic lane closures and flagging operations between County Road 54 and Townsend Road from Monday through Thursday, running from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
A few major projects will require continuous, 24-hour lane closures that will remain in place until further notice. On US 301, the southbound right lane will be permanently closed between Kingsmere Road and Wire Road. State Road 52 will see similar round-the-clock disruptions near the Suncoast Parkway (State Road 589). The westbound left lane of State Road 52 is completely closed from just east of the parkway to just west of it. At the same time, the eastbound State Road 52 left-turn lane onto northbound State Road 589 will experience a continuous partial closure at its western end.
Nighttime drivers will need to stay alert for construction zones on other segments of State Road 52 and State Road 54. Work on State Road 52 from west of Interstate 75 to Tradeway Boulevard and Pasco Road will trigger lane closures from Sunday night, June 28, through Thursday night, July 2, lasting from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night. Meanwhile, State Road 54 at Altamont Lane will undergo overnight lane closures during those same dates, spanning from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Daytime motorists on State Road 54 will also deal with delays closer to Henley Road, where lane closures are planned from Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
The Suncoast Parkway interchanges will experience multiple partial daytime closures from Monday, June 29 through Thursday, July 2, between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. The State Road 54 entrance ramp onto the northbound parkway will have its right shoulder and merge lane partially closed, though full access to the highway will remain open.
During these identical hours, the southbound parkway exit ramps to both State Road 54 and State Road 52 will see partial or total closures of their right-turn lanes, though drivers will still be permitted to make turns.
Further daytime restrictions will impact State Road 39 and County Road 54. State Road 39 will have lane closures and flagging operations from Chancey Road to just south of Weicht Road from Monday through Thursday, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. County Road 54 will mirror this schedule, utilizing lane closures and flagging from west of Flint Drive to US 301 (Gall Boulevard) during the same 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. window.
Finally, pedestrian and recreational traffic will face a long-term disruption on Touchpoint Drive. The access point to the Suncoast Trail Trailhead is now completely closed around-the-clock. Local officials expect this trailhead closure to remain in effect well into the summer of 2027.
