Pasco County Traffic Alert: Major Roadwork Set To Snarl Traffic March 22-28

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – Pasco County drivers should prepare for a slow commute starting this Sunday as the Florida Department of Transportation kicks off a heavy week of maintenance and construction. Multiple stretches of US 19, US 98, and State Road 54 will see significant lane closures between March 22 and March 28, 2026.

Those traveling through New Port Richey on US 19 will face the biggest hurdles. At Marine Parkway, crews will be working overnight from Sunday through Thursday, shutting down lanes between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Daylight travelers aren’t off the hook either; US 19 at Charlene Lane will see daytime lane closures from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. throughout the work week.

Further east, US 98 is expected to be a bottleneck. Flagging operations and periodic lane closures are scheduled between CR 54 and Townsend Road from Monday to Friday during daylight hours.

Additionally, a major traffic switch is planned for the overnight hours of Thursday, March 26, on the stretch of US 98 near the Hillsborough River Bridge.

Commuters using State Road 54 near the Suncoast Parkway will also need to stay alert. Lane closures are scheduled under the Parkway bridge from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., starting Sunday night and running through Tuesday.

Meanwhile, daily flagging operations on CR 54 between Flint Drive and US 301 will likely cause delays for those heading toward Zephyrhills between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. all week long.

Local officials urge motorists to allow for extra travel time or seek alternate routes where possible to avoid the expected congestion.
