PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – Drivers in Pasco County should prepare for a slow commute starting Sunday, as several major construction projects are set to trigger lane closures and flagging operations across the region. Local transportation officials have released a heavy schedule of maintenance and improvements affecting US 19, US 98, and the Suncoast Parkway.
The busiest stretch of the week hits US 19. At the Charlene Lane intersection, motorists will face daytime lane closures from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. starting Monday, April 13, and running through Friday, April 17.
To the south, at Marine Parkway, the work moves to the night shift. Crews will shut down lanes from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Sunday night, April 12, until Thursday morning.
Further east, US 98 will see significant activity near the Hillsborough River Bridge.

On Sunday and Monday nights, drivers should expect traffic switches and flagging operations from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. as crews work on a 1.5-mile stretch north of CR 54.
Similar flagging will take place at the US 98 and CR 54 intersection during those same overnight hours. For those traveling between CR 54 and Townsend Road during the day, periodic lane closures are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. all week long.
Other areas facing impacts include:
- SR 39: Flagging operations are scheduled between Weicht Road and Chancey Road on Wednesday and Thursday nights, April 15–16, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- SR 589 (Suncoast Parkway): The southbound exit ramp to SR 52 will have partial or full closures of the right-turn lane from Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., though turns will remain available.
- CR 54: Nightly lane closures and flagging will occur between Flint Drive and US 301 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., starting Sunday night and wrapping up Thursday morning.
Commuters are encouraged to allow extra travel time or seek alternate routes to avoid the expected congestion.
