Pasco County Traffic Alert: US 98 Project To Shut Down Old Lakeland Highway Wednesday

DADE CITY, Fla. — A portion of Old Lakeland Highway (Alternate Pasco CR 35) will be closed to all traffic on Wednesday, May 13, for bridge construction. The closure is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. and conclude by 5 p.m., depending on weather conditions.

The Florida Department of Transportation confirmed that the shutdown is required to facilitate beam setting and bridge work where US 98 crosses over the roadway.

A formal detour will be in place for the duration of the work. Drivers will be rerouted using a path following US 98, US 301, and Clinton Avenue to navigate around the construction site.

State officials recommend that motorists either choose alternate routes or add extra time to their travel schedules to account for the detour.

This work is part of a $147 million regional project to widen and realign US 98 between the Polk County line and US 301. Residents and commuters seeking project updates or email alerts can find more information at fdottampabay.com.
