PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – A Land O’Lakes man died late Thursday night following a deputy-involved shooting during a domestic disturbance response, according to the Pasco Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 11:10 p.m. to a report of a domestic incident involving a firearm on Causeway Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim while attempting to communicate with 61-year-old Enoch Harville, who was located in a back room of the home.
According to sheriff’s office reports, Harville armed himself with a firearm while inside the back room. Deputies backed out of the room and ordered Harville to drop the weapon.
Authorities state Harville ignored the commands and approached the deputies while holding the gun, prompting two deputies to fire their weapons, striking him.
Harville was pronounced dead at the scene. No deputies or other civilians sustained injuries during the encounter.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has opened an independent investigation into the shooting per standard procedure for deputy-involved firearm discharges. Both deputies involved have been placed on paid administrative leave pending the investigation’s outcome.
