PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – It isn’t time to put away the winter coats just yet. With freezing temperatures hanging over the area, Pasco County officials have decided to keep emergency shelters open a few extra days. They want to make sure everyone has a warm, safe place to sleep while the cold snap continues.

The shelters on both sides of the county are open now and will keep running through the night of Thursday, January 29. There is a small break in the schedule, though. The shelters will be closed on Friday, January 30, but they will open their doors again on Saturday, January 31, 2026.

If you or someone you know needs a spot to stay, you can just show up. The doors open at 6 p.m. in the evening and stay open until 10 a.m. the next morning. It is a simple way to get out of the weather for the night.

There are two main places you can go.

In Spring Hill, head to the Shady Hills Mission Chapel at 15925 Greenglen Lane.

If you are closer to Zephyrhills, you can go to the First Nazarene Church at 6151 12th Street.

If you have questions, you can call the Spring Hill location at 727-856-2948 or the Zephyrhills location at 615-483-4356.

Officials are reminding everyone that this kind of cold is dangerous if you are outside for too long. Please keep an eye on children, older neighbors, and pets, as they are the most vulnerable to the freeze.
