Pasco County Kidnapper and Wife Beater Behind Bars

LAND O’ LAKES, Fla. – An Amber Alert issued Monday in Pasco County, resulted in securing a kidnapped 9-year-old Michael Morris, and the arrest of a violent offender, Haralampos Savopoulos.

Haralampos Savopoulos was caught and arrested by Pasco County Sheriff’s Department just before 10:30 AM on Monday, soon after the Amber Alert was issued. Sheriff Nocco said, “According to the mother, she was inside a vehicle with the Savopoulos, and they were arguing. During that time, he threw her out of the car, with 9-year-old Michael still inside.”

Nocco described Savopoulos as “very violent” and was likely under the influence of a substance at the time of the kidnapping, and described Michael’s mother as having a possible brain injury from the ordeal.

“He currently has a warrant out of Pinellas, he’s been arrested numerous times for aggravated battery, one with a deadly weapon, and other battery charges, for stalking,” said Sheriff Nocco.

Savopoulos is jailed tonight, in Pasco County Land O’ Lakes Jail, on multiple charges of battery with great bodily harm, kidnapping, selling controlled substances, and confining a child under 13.

Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco credits the Sheriff’s Deputies and the public for bring swift justice for 9-year-old Michael Morris and his mother.

“We fight as one, that we, is our entire community,” said Nocco.

Sheriff Nocco spoke of the real-time tips that poured in on Monday as the Sheriff’s department searched for the missing boy in Pasco County.

“Those tips led to the boys safety and us recovering him,” said Nocco
