PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – Pasco Sheriff’s Office is excited to announce the newest member of their K-9 unit, K-9 Hondo!

K-9 Hondo is a German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois cross born on March 1, 2021.

Hondo recently completed certification for patrol work. K-9 Hondo will also be a member of the SWAT team.

Patrol K-9s like Hondo help deputies locate missing people or suspects that have run from a crime, conduct building and area searches for important evidence, and more.

These skills help deputies resolve situations quickly, which returns deputies to service faster, where they’re able to continue to take other calls, instead of remaining on one call for a long period of time.

Dep. Alex Mason, who is new to the K-9 unit, is K-9 Hondo’s partner.

The funds to purchase, equip and train K-9 Hondo were donated by Wesley Chapel Honda, who also selected Hondo’s name. K-9 Hondo and Dep. Mason met with employees at Wesley Chapel Honda on his second day at work.
