Passenger Attempts To Divert Mexican Flight To US, Thwarted By Crew

A domestic flight in Mexico was forced to make an unscheduled landing after a passenger attempted to divert the plane towards the United States.

The incident occurred on Volaris flight 3041, traveling from El Bajio to Tijuana. According to the airline, the crew apprehended the passenger before the plane could be diverted.

The flight then landed in Guadalajara, where the disruptive passenger was handed over to authorities.

After the unscheduled stop, the remaining passengers and crew continued their journey to Tijuana.

Volaris expressed regret for the inconvenience caused by the incident and emphasized that the safety of its passengers and crew is its top priority. The airline did not disclose the passenger’s motive or at what point during the flight the attempted diversion occurred.

Volaris has stated its intention to pursue legal action against the passenger to ensure they face the full consequences of their actions.
