PHILADELPHIA, PA. – Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers officially ended the Philadelphia Eagles’ bid for a repeat championship on Sunday, escaping Lincoln Financial Field with a 23-19 wild-card victory.

Purdy, who left the field injured in a playoff loss here three seasons ago, connected with Christian McCaffrey for the game-winning 6-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

The 49ers’ offense also got a creative boost from wide receiver Jauan Jennings, who threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to McCaffrey on a trick play to open the final period.

The loss caps a frustrating collapse for Philadelphia. Despite holding a halftime lead, the Eagles’ offense sputtered under coordinator Kevin Patullo, and tensions flared on the sideline when receiver A.J. Brown had to be separated from head coach Nick Sirianni.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts finished with just 168 passing yards and failed to convert a final fourth-down attempt in the closing minute.

San Francisco moves on to play the top-seeded Seattle Seahawks next weekend, though the victory came with a heavy price.

All-Pro tight end George Kittle was carted off the field in the first half with a right Achilles tendon injury and did not return.
