Vice President JD Vance appeared on NBC’s Meet the Press this Sunday to champion President Donald Trump’s “historic” peace deal between Israel and Hamas.

Vance declared the U.S.-brokered deal, which promises the release of the remaining Israeli hostages, as the “end to the war in Gaza,” crediting the breakthrough to President Trump’s unconventional diplomatic approach.

“I believe that we are on the cusp of peace in Gaza for the first time, not just in a couple of years, but really in a very long time because the president of the United States has done something that no other world leader has been able to do: unite the Israelis with the Gulf Arab states for a common objective,” Vice President Vance told host Kristen Welker.

The peace accord is the centerpiece of President Trump’s upcoming trip to the Middle East, where he plans to greet the freed hostages. Vance confirmed that the release is expected “any moment now,” with the President planning to be in the region Monday morning, Middle Eastern time.

On the military component of the Gaza deal, Vice President Vance sought to allay concerns about American involvement, promising that no U.S. troops would enter Gaza.

“He is not planning to put boots on the ground in Gaza or Israel,” Vance stated unequivocally.

He explained that Central Command troops already in the region would be tasked with monitoring the ceasefire and ensuring humanitarian aid flows, while a number of “Muslim majority countries” have offered to put their own troops on the ground to secure Gaza.

Vance repeatedly emphasized that the diplomatic success was due to President Trump’s choice to ignore “traditional failed diplomatic routes” and empower “unconventional people” like special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, arguing the resulting peace deal is “nothing short of breathtaking.”
