A Pennsylvania child with severe autism, Layla Garcia, has received a special sensory bedroom makeover, transforming her personal space into a haven of comfort and self-expression. The “Special Dream” was granted by the Sunshine Foundation and made possible by a generous donation from Presto Tape.

Layla of McAdoo, who lives with Level 3 Severe Autism, now has a room designed to meet her unique sensory needs. Her mother shared how this new space has positively impacted Layla’s life.

“Layla can’t express the love and thanks to Presto Tape and Sunshine Foundation for giving her the most wonderful sensory room she can dream of,” her mother said. “She’s finally able to express herself within her home and let all her energy out in the comfort of her own home. Thank you for making her dream come true.”

The Sunshine Foundation is a national nonprofit organization that fulfills dreams for children with severe chronic illnesses and conditions. Unlike some other wish-granting organizations, the Sunshine Foundation doesn’t require a life-threatening diagnosis, ensuring that children with conditions like spina bifida, cerebral palsy, and severe autism can also have their dreams come true.

Since 1976, the foundation has brought joy to over 43,280 children across the United States. While many children request “Magical Dreams” to visit theme parks like Disney World, the Sunshine Foundation also grants “Special Dreams” like Layla’s, which can include shopping sprees, computers, outdoor playsets, and adaptive equipment.

The organization, which relies on public and corporate donations, is a top-rated charity, holding a perfect 100% score on Charity Navigator and an “A” rating on CharityWatch. To learn more or to help make a child’s dream a reality, you can visit their website at www.sunshinefoundation.org.
