A Pennsylvania man wanted by police for allegedly kidnapping a woman, threatening a child, and holding the victim at gunpoint for a night in the woods has been taken into custody in Kentucky.

Shawn Prince, 29, was apprehended by authorities on Saturday morning and is now awaiting extradition back to Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, to face charges including kidnapping, simple assault, terroristic threats, and harassment.

The charges stem from an incident that began after a domestic dispute on a Monday morning. The victim told Scottdale Police that Prince had kidnapped her, allegedly threatening to cut her friend’s child’s throat if she did not comply.

The victim claimed Prince drove her to an unfamiliar rural, wooded area. According to the criminal complaint, Prince then forced her out of the car and put a gun to her head. They were allegedly forced to stay the night in the woods.

The incident came to light on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, when Scottdale Police responded to a residence on Jennings Avenue for a welfare check requested by the victim’s concerned family. While searching the empty house, which had an open door and the victim’s phone inside, officers received a call that the victim had fled and was at the police station.

The victim was able to escape after Prince began driving again the following morning and she recognized her surroundings near Ohiopyle. She drove herself to the Scottdale Police station and reported the crime.

Prince was located and taken into custody in Maysville, Kentucky, following a joint effort by multiple law enforcement agencies to track the fugitive.
