Pennsylvania Gov. Shapiro Brushes Off Harris Drama After ‘The View’ Hosts Digs In

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro sat down at the table on “The View” this Tuesday, and the conversation quickly turned to the rocky past between him and former Vice President Kamala Harris. The hosts didn’t hold back, pressing the governor repeatedly about the insults and tensions that surfaced after he was passed over as Harris’ running mate in the 2024 election.

Much of the buzz comes from Shapiro’s new memoir, “Where We Keep The Light.” In the book, he reveals a stinging detail from the vetting process.

He wrote that Harris’ campaign team asked him if he was a “double agent” for Israel. Shapiro admitted that the question felt like an attack on his loyalty as a Jewish American and personally offended him. But on Tuesday, he tried to keep things cool. He told the hosts he doesn’t hold a grudge against Harris and was simply grateful to be considered for the job in the first place.

Shapiro explained to co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin that he and his wife, Laura, spent a lot of time thinking about the best way to serve. He said that even though things got tense, he had a very honest conversation with Harris at the end of the process.

When asked about the “double agent” comment specifically, Shapiro acknowledged it was a tough moment. He said he felt the question was really asking about “dual loyalty,” but he shrugged it off, telling the audience that the vetting team had a job to do and that he is a “big boy” who can handle tough questions.

The drama goes both ways, though. In her own book, “107 Days,” Harris wrote that she was worried Shapiro was too confident. She claimed he seemed to want the role of a “co-president” rather than a vice president. When co-host Ana Navarro brought up these claims, Shapiro didn’t fire back. Instead, he extended some grace to his former rival. He clarified that he finished writing his book before he ever read hers, so it wasn’t written as a response to her attacks.

Shapiro insisted his focus was never on “dishing” dirt. He said he just wanted to be honest about what he went through and how he makes decisions. He told the hosts that he is driven to serve the public but also wants to be a good dad and husband. He emphasized that finding a balance between having an impact and being there for his family was his main priority during the chaotic selection process.

This public make-up session comes after some harsh words in the past. Back in December 2025, Shapiro gave an interview where he angrily called Harris’ worries about his ambition “utter bulls*it.”

At the time, he faced pressure from different sides of the Democratic party, with some members claiming he was too supportive of Israel. In the end, Harris picked Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, even though reports say her husband, Doug Emhoff, actually preferred Shapiro. despite the messy history, Shapiro’s appearance on Tuesday showed he is ready to move on.
