A Pennsylvania man is facing numerous felony charges, including kidnapping, aggravated assault of an unborn child, and firearm offenses, following his recent arrest after months on the run.
Justin Daugherty, 24, was taken into custody on Friday in connection with a series of incidents that began in late August in McKees Rocks. Authorities allege Daugherty assaulted and physically restrained his pregnant ex-girlfriend for several days after showing up at her home.
The criminal complaint states Daugherty allegedly struck the woman repeatedly in her abdomen after learning she was pregnant by another man.
During a failed rescue attempt by the woman’s current boyfriend and a friend, Daugherty is accused of firing a handgun, injuring one male, before forcing the victim and her 1-year-old child into his car. The victim managed to secretly contact 911 during the drive.
Daugherty was finally located and arrested by detectives in Stowe Township. He is being held without bond at the Allegheny County Jail, awaiting a preliminary hearing scheduled for November 18.
