A Pennsylvania man faces a criminal homicide charge after his mother was beaten to death on a front porch over the weekend, according to the Pennsylvania State Police.
Troopers took Jakob Korber into custody Sunday evening in connection with the death of Christin Hamilton. A judge denied Korber bail during his arraignment.
Emergency crews and troopers responded Sunday morning to a home along Herminie West Newton Road in Sewickley Township after a family member dialed 911. That relative reported finding Hamilton unresponsive and severely injured on the front porch. First responders pronounced her dead at the scene.
Investigators confirmed that Korber is Hamilton’s son.
During the investigation, police obtained and reviewed residential surveillance camera footage from the property. According to charging documents, the video recorded Korber and Hamilton in an argument outside the house before the dispute turned physical.
Troopers said the footage captured Korber violently assaulting his mother, using his hands, his feet, and several objects located on the porch during the attack.
Korber remains held in the Westmoreland County Prison on a single count of criminal homicide.
Under Pennsylvania law, criminal charges are accusations, and all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
