A sharp Democratic divide erupted into the open Tuesday as Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman publicly criticized former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for her fiery condemnation of President Donald Trump, calling her comments “inappropriate” and a step too far in political rhetoric.

Pelosi, during a CNN interview on “The Story Is with Elex Michaelson,” labeled President Trump “the worst thing on the face of the Earth” and a “vile creature”—a remark that immediately drew a strong rebuke from the moderate Democrat.

Speaking later on Fox News’ “The Story with Martha MacCallum,” Fetterman countered Pelosi’s harsh language, arguing there are far more serious villains in the world.

“I would say that’s part of the worst creatures on the face of the earth are Hamas or like the leadership of Iran or there’s a lot of people on that,” Fetterman said. “I would never use those kinds of terms and I wouldn’t describe our president.”

The Senator, who has frequently broken with his party on issues like the war in Israel and political rhetoric, emphasized that one can disagree with the president without resorting to such extreme personal attacks.

“You can really disagree with him and I do disagree, but I don’t think that’s really entirely appropriate,” he continued, adding that Pelosi’s language represented “a different kind of a Democrat for me.”

Fetterman’s critique follows his earlier comments on Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime” where he doubled down on his refusal to demonize political opposition. He cautioned that Democrats lose credibility when they resort to name-calling like “fascists,” noting that it wrongly tarred the millions of Americans who vote for the opposition.

The Pennsylvania Senator’s consistent pushback against the left’s fiercest rhetoric highlights a growing ideological rift within the Democratic party—one that puts him at odds with some of its most established leaders.
