Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman didn’t hold back during an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “Saturday in America,” delivering a blunt critique of what he describes as a growing “rot” within the Democratic Party.

The Senator took aim at colleagues and activists he claims have aligned themselves with anti-Israel sentiments and controversial figures.

During the broadcast, Fetterman specifically called out Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) for her frequent criticisms of Israel. He questioned why some progressives focus their condemnation on the Jewish state while remaining relatively silent on human rights abuses elsewhere, such as the Iranian government’s crackdown on protesters.

“Why is she so eager to criticize and find a way to criticize Israel?” Fetterman asked during the interview. He argued that Israel is currently fighting an “existential war” and stated firmly that there should be no conditions placed on U.S. aid to the country. Fetterman also explicitly rejected the use of the word “genocide” to describe the conflict in Gaza, instead pointing toward the execution of protesters in Iran as a more fitting example of such atrocities.

The Senator’s frustration extended to the influence of online personalities, specifically naming Hasan Piker.

Fetterman characterized Piker as “pro-Hamas” and “ragingly” antisemitic, expressing disbelief that members of his own party would align themselves with such figures. He also took a swipe at mainstream media, noting that outlets like The New York Times seem “fascinated” with Piker despite his controversial rhetoric.

“There’s a rot in my party, standing with pro-Hamas people like that,” Fetterman said, reiterating his stance that Israel remains a “special ally” that deserves unwavering support.

These comments highlight a deepening divide within the Democratic caucus.

While a vocal wing of the party has called for a ceasefire and a reassessment of the U.S.-Israel relationship due to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Fetterman has moved in the opposite direction, becoming one of the most outspoken pro-Israel voices in the Senate.
