Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman Goes Rogue: Why He’s The Last Dem Standing Against Iran

Senator John Fetterman has doubled down on his support for Israel, positioning himself as a singular voice within the Democratic Party regarding U.S. policy toward Iran.

During a Wednesday appearance on Fox News, Fetterman responded to observations that he is currently the only elected Democrat to maintain a consistent pro-Israel stance alongside the president on these specific regional issues.

When asked by host Sean Hannity why these matters remain a priority, Fetterman cited a long-term commitment to the Jewish community and a belief that the United States serves as a “force of good” both in the Middle East and globally. He specifically addressed his recent voting record, which has diverged from many of his colleagues in the Senate.

“All the other Democrats, we’ve all said in the past, we can’t let Iran build the nuclear bomb,” Fetterman said. “And now, when someone did something about that to really prevent that, you know, why wouldn’t I support that? So I’m proud to have that vote.”

The Senator also clarified recent comments made by the president regarding financial priorities, suggesting the “essence” of the administration’s current focus is preventing Iran from achieving nuclear capabilities.

Fetterman argued that the international community, including Europe and China, should join a unified front to demand an end to Iran’s nuclear ambitions so that global attention can shift back to domestic and international rebuilding.

Fetterman concluded by criticizing members of his own party for what he described as a lapse in memory regarding Iran’s historical role in the region.

He pointed to Iran’s five-decade track record of influence, specifically naming them as the organizers behind the October 7 attacks and the primary backers of militant groups like Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis.

“People in my party have forgotten that the Iranians actually are the really bad guy,” Fetterman stated. “That’s why I’m proud to stand through this entire thing.”
