Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) revealed a surprising source of political vitriol during an appearance on CNN’s “Inside Politics” on Wednesday, telling a visibly shocked host Dana Bash that the “far left” has treated him with significantly more cruelty than the political right.

Bash referenced a passage from Fetterman’s new book, Unfettered, in which he writes that “the most poisonous, the bitterest” attacks he receives originate from the far left. Calling the admission “remarkable” for an elected Democrat, Bash asked Fetterman to elaborate on his experience.

The Senator explained that his digital team had identified the social media platform Bluesky, which is popular among progressives, as the epicenter of the harshest and most personal attacks.

“The difference is the right would say really rough things and names,” Fetterman said. “But on the left, it was like, they want me to die, or that ‘We’re cheering for your next stroke’ or… why couldn’t have the depression won? And I hope your kids find you.”

Fetterman added a disturbing detail: “They even have… a gif where they have a stroke in your head.”

“Oh my gosh,” Bash exclaimed in response to the senator’s revelations about the extreme nature of the online abuse.

Fetterman’s interview sheds a harsh light on the deep divides and personal animosity within the political landscape, suggesting that for some, the most brutal attacks come not from the opposition but from their own side.
