A Pennsylvania truck driver faces second-degree murder and criminal vehicular homicide charges after authorities say he intentionally rammed a motorcyclist into a highway barrier and fled the scene in Cass County, Minnesota.
Timothy William Arthur Hall, 33, was arrested following the Aug. 20 collision on southbound Highway 371 that killed 30-year-old Roy John Berger. Berger, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene.
According to the criminal complaint, witnesses saw Hall’s semi deliberately swerve onto the shoulder to block the motorcycle from passing.
“The semi made a quick maneuver toward the shoulder and pushed the motorcycle into the cable barrier, causing the crash,” the complaint states. “Then the semi had run over the motorcycle driver and fled from the scene.”
Troopers soon pulled Hall over. Despite his claims that he had not crashed, officers noted matching vehicle damage and what appeared to be human remains on a mud flap. Company dashcam footage later reviewed by police showed Hall swerving toward the barrier ‘without any road hazards present.’
Investigators reported alcohol was not a factor. Hall is being held without bond at the Itasca County Jail.
