INVERNESS, Fla. – A Pennsylvania woman lost her life Tuesday evening after attempting to cross a stretch of US-41 in Citrus County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The crash occurred shortly after sunset at approximately 6:25 p.m., just north of Eden Drive.
Troopers say a 60-year-old man from Inverness was driving a Chevy Silverado northbound on the highway when the incident took place. As the pickup truck approached the area north of Eden Drive, a pedestrian reportedly stepped into the roadway.

The pedestrian, identified by authorities as a 56-year-old woman from Friendsville, Pennsylvania, entered the direct path of the oncoming Silverado. Despite the driver’s presence on the road, the woman was unable to clear the lane in time and was struck by the vehicle.
Emergency responders arrived quickly, but the woman had sustained critical injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
The driver of the Silverado was not reported injured.
