PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – Pasco’s pet population will benefit from a $25,000 grant just awarded to Pasco County Animal Services (PCAS) by Petco Love.
PCAS will partner with the Humane Society of Pasco County and SPCA Suncoast to use the money to spay and neuter homeless dogs and cats.
The grant will help PCAS provide the surgeries without passing the cost along to potential adopters, rescue partners, or community cat caregivers.
“We’re grateful to Petco Love for helping us combat pet overpopulation,” said PCAS Director Mike Shumate. “We can also keep animals out of the shelter with our most effective lifesaving tool, which is spaying and neutering.”
Petco Love, formerly known as The Petco Foundation, is a nonprofit organization that promotes the strong bond between people and their pets – through love. The group has given away over $300 million since 1999 to help with adoption and other lifesaving efforts.
The Pasco County Animal Services Department is dedicated to promoting and protecting the health, safety and welfare of animals and people.
Since 2019, PCAS has saved more than 90% of the animals entering our shelter through adoption; transfers to rescue groups; returning pets to their owners; and trap, neuter, vaccinate and return (TNVR) efforts for community cats.
