St. Petersburg – The Pinellas Board of County Commissioners met on Tuesday to vote on a mandate to require masks in the county.

The Board of County Commissioners voted 6-1 to require masks to be worn in indoor public spaces throughout Pinellas County.

The ordinance will go into effect Wednesday, June 24 at 5 p.m. Parental discretion applies to all minors.

Anyone refusing to wear a mask can be issued a ‘local ordinance violation citation’, $100 for a first offense, $250 for a second and $500 for a third.

On Monday, Mayor Rick Kriseman signed an executive order, mandating the requirement for masks in St Petersburg.

In the Tampa Bay area, Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco counties, Tampa, and St. Petersburg all have mandatory indoor mask mandates in place.
