PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County (DOH-Pinellas), in partnership with the Florida Department of Health, Florida Division of Emergency Management, and Pinellas County Government, is providing COVID-19 vaccination sites.
To keep Florida residents and visitors safe and aware regarding the status of the virus, DOH-Pinellas will continue to issue this update every week.
Registrations for vaccines in Pinellas are made via the CDR Maguire Patient Portal at www.PatientPortalFL.com or, for information, call (844) 770-8548.
County health departments have an important role to play in administering vaccine. Here’s a summary of some of our top efforts during March 8-14:
- As of March 14, Pinellas has vaccinated 198,855 persons. To date, 101,854 residents have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
- Via a partnership with Pinellas County Schools, DOH-Pinellas Director Dr.
Ulyee Choe took part in a virtual roundtable with other area physicians. It was designed as a vaccine Q&A for K-12 educators. The event was shared with school personnel and the community on YouTube here. The other physicians represented large health systems in the county. The event was moderated by the Pinellas school superintendent.
DOH-Pinellas has visited more than a dozen faith communities and community organizations for COVID-19 vaccinations to bridge the health equity gap. On March 10, the team vaccinated seniors at the North Greenwood Recreation Center in Clearwater. DOH-Pinellas also provided vaccines to 438 seniors at Bethel Metro Baptist Church and 600 seniors at Bethel Community Baptist. The latter two serve mostly African American congregants and are located in St. Petersburg.
On March 11, our partners at Pinellas County Government held a webinar for area librarians that provided training in how to help the community register on the CDR Maguire Patient Portal for appointments. Libraries in Pinellas had been asked to facilitate solutions to technology barriers for seniors without computers or with limited knowledge of PC navigation.
Via a state partnership, an additional vaccination site will open in Clearwater soon to provide access to residents in the northern part of the county. The other sites are located in St. Petersburg, Pinellas Park, and Largo, which are more accessible to those in the southern part.
