PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – In preparation for Hurricane Helene, Pinellas County will lock its three movable bridges in the closed position at 8 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, September 25, 2024. This decision follows guidance from the U.S. Coast Guard.
The affected bridges are:
- Dunedin Causeway Bridges
- Beckett Bridge in Tarpon Springs
- Park Boulevard Bridge in Seminole

These bridges will remain open to vehicle traffic but will not open for boat traffic until conditions improve after the storm.
Boat owners with high-clearance vessels who need to relocate them to a safer location should do so before the bridges close tonight.
Additionally, the Florida Highway Patrol and Florida Department of Transportation will close the Sunshine Skyway bridge when wind speeds reach approximately 45 mph.

The Gandy Bridge, Howard Frankland Bridge, and/or Courtney Campbell Causeway may also be closed if wave action poses a safety risk.
