PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – As of 6:00 PM on September 26, 2024, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office has closed access to all barrier islands in the county. This closure affects both residents and visitors, and will remain in effect until further notice.
Residents are still permitted to evacuate.

The following barrier islands are included in the closure:
- Belleair Beach
- Belleair Shore
- Clearwater Beach
- Dunedin Causeway/ Honeymoon Island
- Indian Rocks Beach
- Indian Shores
- Madeira Beach
- North Redington Beach
- Redington Beach
- Redington Shores
- St. Pete Beach
- Tierra Verde
- Treasure Island
This decision has been made in response to the ongoing impacts of Hurricane Helene, likely to ensure the safety of residents and visitors in these vulnerable areas.
