PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – Pinellas County drivers are looking at a messy week on the asphalt as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) rolls out an extensive list of lane closures from February 15 through February 21. Whether you are heading over the Skyway or just trying to grab groceries on US 19, your usual route is likely going to look a bit different.

Starting Sunday, commuters on I-275 and I-175 will see the orange cones come out after dark. For those heading north between 38th Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard, expect lanes to thin out from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Thursday night.

The I-175 stretch between 16th and 4th Streets South follows a similar pattern, kicking off at 7 p.m. and wrapping up by 7 a.m. the following morning. Even the Sunshine Skyway Bridge isn’t exempt; night owls should prepare for delays between 8 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. starting Monday night and running through Friday morning.

Major arteries like US 19 and Alt US 19 are also getting hit hard. Several sections of US 19, specifically from Tampa Road down to Live Oak Street and the stretch near Curlew Road, will undergo overnight work.

If you usually take Alt US 19 through Tarpon Springs or Palm Harbor, keep an eye on the clock. While many of these closures are overnight, the stretch from E Curlew Place to St. Andrews Drive will actually see daytime work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. all the way through Saturday.

Long-term projects continue to simmer in the background as well. The 62nd Avenue S Bridge over Maximo Channel remains under a 24-hour lane closure that isn’t expected to let up until summer. Similarly, eastbound drivers on Gulf to Bay Boulevard and Curlew Road should remain used to the “new normal,” as those 24-hour closures are slated to stick around through much of the year.

Daytime travelers aren’t entirely off the hook, either. Gandy Boulevard, Ulmerton Road, and 4th Street North will all see crews active between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. throughout the work week. With so many moving parts across the county’s major corridors, FDOT is encouraging everyone to leave a few minutes early and keep a sharp eye out for workers in the roadway.
