PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – Motorists planning to hit the road for the holiday week should prepare for delays as crews continue work on several major arteries in Pinellas County. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 has released its lane closure schedule for the week of December 21 through December 27, 2025, detailing restrictions that could impact last-minute shoppers and holiday travelers.
While some work is scheduled for overnight hours to minimize disruption, daytime flagging operations and long-term 24-hour closures remain in effect on key routes like SR 60 and Curlew Road.

Here is what drivers need to know to navigate the work zones this week:
Interstate Closures (I-275 & I-175)
Travelers using the interstates downtown and further north should watch for overnight restrictions early in the week.
- I-175: Nightly lane closures are scheduled from 16th Street South to 4th Street South. These will occur Sunday, December 21 through Tuesday, December 23, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
- I-275 Mainline: Lanes will be closed between 38th Avenue North (Exit 25) and Gandy Boulevard (Exit 28). Look for these closures nightly from Sunday through Tuesday, running from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- I-275 Ramps: Drivers entering or exiting the highway during the day should stay alert for flagging operations. Brief stoppages are planned for the ramps at 38th Avenue North, 54th Avenue North, and Gandy Boulevard on Monday and Tuesday (Dec. 22-23) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Major Surface Street Impacts
Several busy surface roads will see significant activity, including 24-hour lane shutdowns that will persist through the holiday.
- SR 60 (Gulf to Bay Blvd): A long-term closure is in place for eastbound traffic from South Bayshore Boulevard to Dr. Kiran C. Patel Boulevard. These lanes remain closed 24 hours a day and are not expected to reopen until early 2026.
- SR 586 (Curlew Road): Work here is two-fold between McMullen Booth Road and Tampa Road.
- 24/7 Closure: The outside eastbound lane is closed around the clock through late 2026.
- Daytime Work: The middle eastbound lane will also be closed Monday and Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- SR 686 (East Bay Drive): Daytime lane closures are scheduled from US 19 to Belcher Road. Crews will be working Monday and Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
