PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla.- Drivers throughout Pinellas County should prepare for potential delays next week as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 schedules a series of maintenance and construction projects.
The planned lane closures, running from Sunday, July 19, through Saturday, July 25, 2026, will affect several major corridors, including US 19, Ulmerton Road, and the Pinellas Bayway.
Commuters using US 19 will experience several overnight lane closures. Starting Sunday night, July 19, through Thursday morning, July 23, crews will close lanes on US 19 from Tampa Road to Tarpon Avenue between the hours of 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.
Two other sections of US 19 will see nighttime lane closures from Monday, July 20, through Thursday, July 23, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. These closures will impact US 19 from SR 580 (Main Street) to SR 586 (Curlew Road), as well as the stretch of US 19 between 49th Street and Bryan Dairy Road.
Daytime travelers can expect single-lane closures on several state roads from Monday, July 20, through Friday, July 24, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Affected areas include SR 687 (4th Street North) from Gandy Boulevard to I-275, and SR 688 (Ulmerton Road) from 49th Street North to Egret Boulevard.
Daytime closures will also occur during these same hours on SR 682 (Pinellas Bayway) at Dolphin Cay Lane and Landings Drive, as well as the stretch of the Bayway leading from Dolphin Cay Lane to the Pinellas Bayway Toll Plaza.
Several long-term, 24-hour lane closures remain in place across the county. On SR 60 (Gulf to Bay Boulevard), eastbound lanes are restricted 24 hours a day from South Bayshore Boulevard to Dr. Kiran C. Patel Boulevard through the summer of 2026. Eastbound lanes on SR 586 (Curlew Road) from McMullen Booth Road to Tampa Road are also closed around the clock through late 2026.
Additionally, the 62nd Avenue South bridge over the Maximo Channel has a 24-hour lane closure through the summer. A temporary traffic signal is in place to guide alternating, bi-directional traffic over the bridge. On 62nd Avenue North, the right lane is closed in both directions approaching and under the I-275 overpass. These around-the-clock closures are expected to remain in place until approximately December 2026.
FDOT recommends that motorists plan ahead, leave early, and exercise caution when traveling through active work zones.
