PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – Road crews are going to be busy starting February 1, 2026, and they are hitting some of the most popular routes. Whether you are commuting to work or just heading out for dinner, here is what you need to look out for to keep your stress levels low.

Let’s start with the interstates. If you drive I-175 near downtown St. Pete, watch for night work between 16th Street South and 4th Street South. Those lanes will be closing overnight from Sunday through Thursday, generally starting at 7 p.m. Further north on I-275, the stretch from 38th Avenue North up past Roosevelt Boulevard is also seeing night closures all week long.

But the big one to mark on your calendar is the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. It will have lane closures on Monday and Tuesday nights only, kicking off at 8 p.m. If you have to cross the bridge late those nights, expect it to take a little longer than usual.

For those who rely on US 19, it is going to be a busy week of overnight construction. Pretty much the whole corridor has something going on. From south of Tampa Road down to Live Oak Street, and from Main Street up to Curlew Road, crews will be closing lanes at night starting Monday or Sunday depending on the spot. Even the stretch from Drew Street to Sunset Point Road will have closures Sunday through Thursday nights. Basically, if you are on US 19 after dark this week, keep your eyes peeled for cones.

Alternate US 19 is a bit of a mixed bag this week. The stretch from Meres Boulevard to Tampa Road has night work, but other spots are seeing daytime action. If you drive near St. Andrews Drive or down by the Sponge Docks near Anclote Road, expect lane closures during the day. Tyrone Boulevard is getting a double dose of work, with night closures all week and some daytime closures specifically on Thursday and Friday.

The major east-west roads aren’t escaping the orange barrels either. East Bay Drive will have night work all week from US 19 over to Belcher. However, daytime drivers need to watch out on 4th Street North, Ulmerton Road, and Gandy Boulevard. All three of those busy roads will have lane closures during the day, mostly between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. If you take Gandy toward the track or Ulmerton across town, you might hit some slowdowns during the workday.

Finally, there are a couple of spots where the lanes just stay closed around the clock. Eastbound SR 60 on the Courtney Campbell Causeway and eastbound Curlew Road near McMullen Booth are both down a lane 24 hours a day. That isn’t changing anytime soon, so keep treating those spots with caution. Drive safe out there.

Pinellas Traffic Alert (Feb 1-7):

  • Skyway Bridge: Night lane closures on Mon & Tue (8 PM – 6:30 AM).
  • Highways: I-275, I-175, and US 19 have night work all week.
  • Daytime Delays: Watch for day closures on Ulmerton, Gandy, and 4th St N.
  • 24/7: Eastbound SR 60 (Gulf to Bay) and Curlew Rd still have constant lane closures.
