PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – If you’re planning to hit the road in Pinellas County next week, you might want to pad your commute time. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 has released its latest maintenance and construction schedule, detailing a long list of lane closures spanning from the Sunshine Skyway up to North County, effective May 3 through May 9.
Night owls and early birds will feel the brunt of the work on I-275. The Sunshine Skyway Bridge is scheduled for nightly lane closures starting Sunday, May 3, running through Friday morning.
Crews will be active from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. each night. Additionally, southbound I-275 will see restricted lanes between Gandy Boulevard and 54th Avenue North from Sunday night through Thursday.
Commuters on US 19 and Alt US 19 are also in for some delays. Daytime work is set for US 19 between Klosterman Avenue and Nebraska Avenue, while night crews will take over the stretch between Main Street and Curlew Road.

Over on Alt US 19, drivers should be prepared for flagging operations near Meres Boulevard and St. Andrews Drive, which could significantly slow down local traffic during both day and night shifts.
Several long-term projects continue to hold steady with 24-hour restrictions. Eastbound SR 60 (Gulf to Bay Boulevard) remains restricted near the Courtney Campbell Causeway through the spring, and SR 586 (Curlew Road) will keep its 24-hour eastbound lane closures in place until late 2026.
Travelers using the 62nd Avenue S Bridge over Maximo Channel will continue to navigate a temporary traffic signal allowing bi-directional traffic through the summer.
Other notable closures include:
- SR 686 (East Bay Drive): Night closures from US 19 to Belcher Road (8:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.).
- SR 687 (4th Street North): Daytime work between Gandy Boulevard and I-275, plus night work further north.
- SR 688 (Ulmerton Road): Daytime lane closures from 49th Street N to Egret Boulevard.
FDOT urges all motorists to remain alert, slow down in work zones, and keep an eye out for construction crews as they work to improve the county’s infrastructure.
