PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – Drivers across Pinellas County should prepare for a busy week of orange cones and flashing lights as the Florida Department of Transportation rolls out an extensive list of lane closures starting February 8.

Whether you are crossing the Skyway or heading up US 19, your usual route might look a little different between Sunday and Valentine’s Day.

Much of the heavy lifting is happening under the cover of darkness. Interstate 175 will see closures from 16th Street S down to 4th Street S every night from Sunday through Thursday, between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.

Meanwhile, the iconic Sunshine Skyway Bridge on I-275 is scheduled for maintenance on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, with crews shutting down lanes from 8 p.m. until 6:30 the following mornings. Further north on I-275, a five-mile stretch between 38th Avenue North and Roosevelt Boulevard will also see nightly restrictions starting Sunday.

The US 19 corridor is getting plenty of attention too. Two major sections—from Tampa Road to Live Oak Street and from Main Street to Curlew Road—will face nightly closures starting Sunday and Monday respectively.

Travelers on ALT US 19 aren’t catching much of a break either; several segments including Meres Boulevard to Tampa Road and the intersection at Anclote Road will see a mix of day and night work throughout the week. Specifically, the stretch from E Curlew Place to St. Andrews Drive will be restricted during daylight hours, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., through Saturday.

Long-term projects continue to impact major east-west arteries as well. Eastbound lanes on SR 60 (Gulf to Bay Boulevard) near Bayshore Boulevard and SR 586 (Curlew Road) near McMullen Booth Road remain under 24-hour closure status, with these restrictions expected to last throughout the year.

Daytime commuters should also keep an eye on East Bay Drive, Gandy Boulevard, and Ulmerton Road. Most of these state roads will feature active work zones from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Local officials are urging everyone to stay alert, slow down in construction zones, and plan for extra travel time to avoid frustration during these scheduled upgrades.
