PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – Pinellas County motorists should prepare for travel shifts as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 begins a heavy week of maintenance and construction. Starting Sunday, March 8, through Saturday, March 14, multiple interstate and local routes will undergo lane closures ranging from overnight shifts to 24-hour restrictions.

Interstate travel will be primarily affected during the late evening and early morning hours. On I-175, lanes between 16th Street S and 4th Street S will close nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., starting Sunday and concluding Thursday morning.

Drivers on I-275 will face similar conditions from 38th Avenue North (Exit 25) to north of Roosevelt Boulevard (Exit 30), with closures scheduled from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. Additionally, the Sunshine Skyway Bridge will see night lane closures from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. through Thursday.

Major stretches of US 19 and ALT US 19 are also on the schedule. Night work on US 19 from Tampa Road to Oak Street runs from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., while the section from Main Street to Curlew Road closes from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. On ALT US 19, work varies by location:

  • Meres Boulevard to Tampa Road: 7:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. (Sunday night through Friday morning).
  • E Curlew Place to St. Andrews Drive: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Monday through Saturday).
  • Tyrone Boulevard (5th Ave N to Park Street): 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. (Sunday through Thursday).

Long-term projects continue to impact 24-hour traffic flow. Eastbound lanes on SR 60 (Gulf to Bay Boulevard) and SR 586 (Curlew Road) remain closed 24 hours a day, with these restrictions expected to last through late 2026. The 62nd Avenue S Bridge over Maximo Channel also maintains 24-hour closures through summer 2026, though a temporary traffic signal is in place to allow bi-directional traffic.

Daytime commuters should watch for 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. lane closures from Monday, March 9, through Friday, March 13, at the following locations:

  • SR 687 (4th Street North) from Gandy Boulevard to I-275.
  • SR 688 (Ulmerton Road) from 49th Street N to Egret Boulevard.
