PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – Drivers making their way through Pinellas County next week should prepare for a mix of overnight shutdowns and newly established traffic patterns. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has released its closure summary for the week of November 30 through December 6, covering several major arteries including I-275, US 19, and Gulf to Bay Boulevard.

While much of the heavy lifting is scheduled for overnight hours to minimize the impact on rush hour, several daytime operations—and a few 24-hour lane shifts—could catch commuters off guard.

Interstate Delays: I-275 and I-175

Those traveling near downtown St. Petersburg and north towards Gandy Boulevard will see significant activity. Night crews are targeting I-175, implementing lane closures from 16th Street South to 4th Street South. These closures run from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., starting Sunday night, November 30, and continuing through Thursday, December 4.

Further north on I-275, drivers should anticipate disruptions between 38th Avenue North and Gandy Boulevard. Overnight lane closures are set for Monday from midnight to 6 a.m., and then again Tuesday through Thursday from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Perhaps more disruptive for daytime drivers will be the work on the I-275 ramps. Brief, periodic flagging operations are scheduled daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 38th Avenue North, 54th Avenue North, and Gandy Boulevard.

US 19 and Alt US 19 Updates

Work on the US 19 corridor is strictly an overnight affair next week. From Sunday through Thursday, crews will close lanes between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. on two separate stretches: from SR 580 (Main Street) to Curlew Road, and from Drew Street to Sunset Point Road.

However, Alternate US 19 will see daytime impacts. Multiple sections, including the stretch from Meres Boulevard to Tampa Road and near Anclote Road, will have lane closures between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. throughout the week. Drivers on Tyrone Boulevard (Alt US 19) get a reprieve during the day, with work there restricted to overnight hours (8 p.m. to 6 a.m.) between 5th Ave N and 38th Ave N.

Long-Term Shifts and 24-Hour Closures

Commuters using SR 60 (Gulf to Bay Boulevard) and SR 586 (Curlew Road) need to be aware of construction zones that won’t disappear when the sun comes up.

  • Gulf to Bay: Eastbound lane closures from South Bayshore Boulevard to Dr. Kiran C. Patel Boulevard remain in effect 24 hours a day. This pattern is expected to last through late 2025.
  • Curlew Road: While there are some daytime closures between McMullen Booth and Tampa Road, the outside eastbound lanes are now closed 24 hours a day, a shift that will persist through late 2026.

Other Notable Slowdowns

FDOT also flagged daytime maintenance on several other key routes for the week of December 1-5:

  • Ulmerton Road: Closures from 49th Street N to Egret Boulevard (7 a.m. to 5 p.m.).
  • Gandy Boulevard: Closures from west of 94th Ave N to Derby Lane (7 a.m. to 5 p.m.).
  • East Bay Drive: Closures at Bedford Circle West (7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).

Motorists are urged to exercise caution in these zones and add extra time to their daily commutes.
