Pinellas County Traffic Alert: Wave Of Roadwork Hits The Pavement March 29-April 4

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – If you are driving through Pinellas County next week, you might want to leave a few minutes early.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 has released an extensive list of lane closures scheduled from March 29 through April 4, 2026, affecting nearly every major artery in the region.

From the Sunshine Skyway to the busy stretches of US 19, orange cones are set to become a permanent fixture for nighttime and daytime travelers alike.

Much of the heavy lifting will happen under the cover of darkness. Nightly lane closures are scheduled for I-175 between 16th Street S and 4th Street S, and on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge (I-275), both running Sunday through Thursday nights.

Similarly, long stretches of US 19—specifically from Tampa Road to Oak Street and from Main Street to Curlew Road—will see crews moving in starting as early as 7 p.m. and wrapping up by morning rush hour.

Drivers on Alternate US 19 should be particularly alert. Flagging operations will be in effect from Meres Boulevard to Tampa Road during the overnight hours, while the stretch from E Curlew Place to St. Andrews Drive will shift to daytime lane closures between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. starting Monday.

Further south, Tyrone Boulevard will also face nightly closures between 5th Avenue N and Park Street.

Beyond the temporary nightly work, several long-term projects continue to tighten traffic patterns across the county. Eastbound SR 60 (Gulf to Bay Boulevard) and SR 586 (Curlew Road) both have 24-hour lane closures in place that aren’t expected to clear until later in 2026.

Additionally, the 62nd Avenue S Bridge over Maximo Channel remains under 24-hour restriction through the summer, utilizing a temporary traffic signal to manage two-way traffic over the bridge.

Other notable disruptions include daytime closures on Gandy Boulevard, Ulmerton Road, and 4th Street North, where work is slated between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. East Bay Drive will also see overnight work from US 19 to Belcher Road. Local officials urge motorists to stay focused, obey posted speed limits in work zones, and expect delays throughout the week as these essential infrastructure updates continue.
