PINELLAS PARK, Fla. — A teacher and coach at Plato Academy was arrested Tuesday following a multi-month investigation into allegations of inappropriate conduct with students. Brett A. Caskey, 41, was taken into custody by the Pinellas Park Police Department on February 3, 2026, and charged with one count of Lewd or Lascivious Conduct.

The investigation began in December 2025 after detectives received reports regarding potential misconduct at the charter school located at 9200 49th St. N.

According to police reports, Caskey utilized his position as an educator and coach to establish inappropriate relationships with female students. Detectives allege that Caskey engaged in behaviors designed to gain the trust of these students, which included purchasing food and clothing for them.

Authorities stated that Caskey’s roles within the school provided opportunities for continued contact with the minors involved. Following the gathering of evidence over the last two months, investigators determined there was sufficient cause to file formal charges.

Caskey was booked into the Pinellas County Jail following his arrest.

The Pinellas Park Police Department is continuing its investigation to determine if there are additional victims or witnesses. Officials are asking anyone with relevant information regarding Caskey’s behavior or contact with students to contact the department directly.
