PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – Commuters across Pinellas County should prepare for a series of traffic delays as a massive wave of roadwork hits major arteries starting Sunday, April 12. Local transportation officials have scheduled extensive lane closures across the I-275 corridor, US 19, and several key bridges, with many projects operating through the overnight hours to minimize daytime impact.
Drivers crossing the Sunshine Skyway Bridge will face night lane closures from Monday, April 13 through Friday, April 17, between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m.
Further north on I-275, the stretch between 38th Avenue North (Exit 25) and Roosevelt Boulevard (Exit 30) will see lanes restricted from Sunday night through Thursday morning, beginning at 8:30 p.m. and wrapping up by 6 a.m. daily.
US 19 will be under significant construction in two primary zones. Between Tampa Road and Oak Street, crews will close lanes nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. starting Sunday. Simultaneously, the segment from Main Street (SR 580) to Curlew Road (SR 586) will undergo night work from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Thursday.

On Alternate US 19, traffic patterns will shift in three locations. Daytime closures are set between San Salvador Drive and Buena Vista Drive North from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. starting Monday.
In the Tarpon Springs area, nightly flagging operations will occur from Meres Boulevard to Tampa Road between 7:30 p.m. and 7 a.m. Additionally, night closures will affect Tyrone Boulevard from 5th Avenue North to Park Street from Sunday through Thursday.
Several long-term projects are also maintaining a 24-hour presence. Eastbound SR 60 (Gulf to Bay Boulevard) remains restricted near South Bayshore Boulevard through spring 2026.
Similarly, eastbound Curlew Road will have around-the-clock closures between McMullen Booth Road and Tampa Road until late 2026. Over the Maximo Channel, the 62nd Avenue South Bridge is restricted 24 hours a day through summer 2026, though a temporary traffic signal is facilitating two-way travel over the bridge.
Rounding out the scheduled maintenance, SR 687 (4th Street North) and SR 688 (Ulmerton Road) will both see daytime lane closures from Monday, April 13 through Friday, April 17, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Residents and travelers are advised to allow extra travel time or seek alternate routes during these periods.
