Plant City Man Killed Attempting To Cross N. Alexander Street

A 67-year-old Plant City man was killed in a pedestrian crash that happened on Thursday around 7:08 pm.

PLANT CITY, Fla. – A 67-year-old Plant City man was killed in a pedestrian crash that happened on Thursday around 7:08 pm.

The Plant City Police Department received a 911 call regarding a traffic crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian with injury.

Upon police arrival, it was determined that a 67-year-old Hispanic male, a Plant City resident, was attempting to cross N. Alexander Street in an east-to-west direction.

“The pedestrian was attempting to cross N. Alexander Street in an area that was between W. Baker St. and Thonotosassa Rd where no pedestrian crosswalks were present,” said Plant City Police.

The pedestrian entered the southbound lanes from the center median and began to cross the southbound lanes, and was struck by a southbound passenger vehicle, a 2012, Dodge Challenger, operated by a 46-year-old White male, also a Plant City resident.

The Plant City Fire Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced the pedestrian deceased. The vehicle and driver remained on the scene and were cooperating with police investigators.

No charges for the vehicle driver are pending at this time.
