The playoff picture finally came into focus this Sunday, but it was the sheer chaos of how the games unfolded that will define Week 15 of the 2025 season.
While the Los Angeles Rams and Denver Broncos became the first teams to officially punch their tickets to the postseason, the headlines belonged to a historic flurry of comebacks and a stat sheet that saw decades-old records fall across the league.
The Year of the Comeback
If no lead felt safe on Sunday, it’s because none were. Six different teams rallied from deficits of at least 10 points to win, tying the all-time NFL record for a single week—a mark hit only five other times in history.
The Buffalo Bills headlined the drama, erasing a massive 21-point hole to stun New England 35-31. They weren’t alone; the Falcons, Chargers, Rams, Saints, and Seahawks all clawed back from double-digit deficits to secure victories.

The nail-biter finishes were a theme of the week, with 53 games this season now decided in the final two minutes or overtime. The New Orleans Saints added to that tally courtesy of Charlie Smyth, an International Pathway Program product who drilled a 47-yard game-winner with just two seconds left on the clock.
Lawrence and Allen in Rare Air
Individual brilliance took center stage in Jacksonville, where Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence put up numbers never before seen in a single NFL game.
In a 48-20 rout of the Jets, Lawrence became the first player in history to record at least 300 passing yards, 50 rushing yards, five touchdown passes, and a rushing touchdown in the same contest. His passer rating on throws between 10 and 19 air yards was a perfect 158.3.
Meanwhile, Josh Allen continued his assault on the history books. By throwing for 193 yards and three scores against the Patriots, the Bills signal-caller joined Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, and Drew Brees as the only players to post 35 combined touchdowns in six different seasons. Allen also secured his 86th regular-season win, tying him with Brady and Russell Wilson for the second-most wins by a quarterback in their first eight seasons.
Rookies and Young Stars Shine
The league’s youth movement was undeniable Sunday. Denver quarterback Bo Nix, now in his second year, threw for 302 yards and four touchdowns to extend the Broncos’ winning streak to 11 games. Nix has already surpassed 7,000 passing yards and 50 touchdowns in his short career, joining legends like Peyton Manning and Dan Marino in that exclusive club.
In the receiving game, Rams sensation Puka Nacua exploded for 181 yards, continuing a historic start to his career that rivals Justin Jefferson and Randy Moss. Similarly, Arizona’s Trey McBride is redefining the tight end position. With another heavy workload Sunday, McBride became the first tight end ever to record 100 catches in consecutive seasons.
Defensive Dominance
On the other side of the ball, Cleveland’s Myles Garrett is making a strong case for Defensive Player of the Year. Garrett tallied another 1.5 sacks in Week 15, bringing his season total to a league-leading 21.5. He passed Hall of Famers Chris Doleman and Reggie White on the single-season sack list and is now chasing the all-time records set since the sack became an official stat in 1982.
Special teams also saw fireworks, with Washington rookie Jaylin Lane taking a punt back 63 yards for a touchdown. It was the fifth rookie punt return TD of the year, nearing the all-time league record of six.
Playoff Bound
Ultimately, the day belonged to the Rams and Broncos. Los Angeles outgunned Detroit 41-34, while Denver handled Green Bay 34-26. Both franchises can now rest easy knowing their place in the tournament is secured, though seeding battles will likely rage on until Week 18.
