TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa police launched a death investigation Friday morning after a man’s body was discovered in an empty lot in East Tampa.
Officers were called to the 2700 block of East 18th Avenue shortly after 11 a.m. following reports of a deceased adult male at the location. Upon arrival, police confirmed the man was dead.
Homicide detectives are currently working to identify the man and locate his next of kin. The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause of death.

Authorities described the case as active and ongoing as investigators continue to gather evidence at the scene. No further details regarding the man’s identity or potential foul play were immediately released.
