New Port Richey Police are seeking the public's help in locating a missing and endangered 75-year-old woman.

Police Searching For Missing Endangered 75-Year-Old Woman

PASCO COUNTY, FL. – New Port Richey Police are seeking the public’s help in locating a missing and endangered 75-year-old woman.

Ruth “Edie” Cecala left her residence at 5512 Lagoon Dr, New Port Richey, FL 34653 between 12 pm and 1 pm on Wednesday.

Police say that Ruth is diagnosed with depression, for which she has been prescribed medication.

For the last two years, Ruth has been severely depressed, refused to leave her residence, and stopped communicating with all of her friends/neighbors.

Ruth was prescribed anti-depressants approximately 2 weeks ago.

Ruth decided to leave her residence for the first time in two years on Wednesday.

Ruth told her husband that she was going to a park and possibly to downtown if she still had the energy. Ruth did not take her wallet or cash that her husband left for her.

Ruth was observed by one neighbor walking through yards before going NB on Pinecrest Dr. Ruth has reportedly made several statements over the past two years indicating that she did not want to be alive anymore and was depressed about her age.

Ruth’s medication was located and counted, yielding Ruth to possibly have taken more than the prescribed amount. Ruth was last known to be wearing a white top, grey capris, a grey baseball hat, and sandals.
