POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A 23-year-old man ended up in handcuffs Saturday evening after a domestic dispute in Kathleen led to a brief manhunt and a standoff under a parked car.

The situation unfolded around 6:10 p.m. on March 14, when Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called out to a house near Deeson Road and Meadow Glen Court. According to investigators, Rafael Anotonio-Miguel had been physically violent toward a victim at the residence before bolting from the area on foot.

As deputies began searching the neighborhood north of Lakeland, they discovered Anotonio-Miguel was already a wanted man with an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court.

It didn’t take long for units in the area to spot him, though he wasn’t exactly standing out in the open. Deputies found him wedged under a vehicle, trying to hide.

The arrest report states that Anotonio-Miguel ignored several orders to crawl out from under the car. Deputies eventually had to reach in and “assist” him out to complete the arrest.

Anotonio-Miguel was transported to the Sheriff’s Processing Center where he was booked on his existing warrant along with new charges of battery and resisting without violence.

Records show this isn’t his first brush with the law; his prior criminal history includes charges for criminal mischief and the exposure of sexual organs.
