DAVENPORT, Fla. — Traffic Homicide detectives with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a fatal Friday afternoon crash on a major thoroughfare in the Davenport area.
Deputies were dispatched to the scene on Ronald Reagan Parkway near Portofino Way following reports of a collision.
Sheriff’s office officials confirmed that one person died in the crash and another individual sustained serious injuries. Emergency personnel responded to provide medical assistance and secure the location.
Authorities initially shut down Ronald Reagan Parkway in both directions while investigators processed the scene and cleared debris. The roadway has since been completely reopened to traffic.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation, and officials noted that updates will be released as additional information becomes available.
