POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A 71-year-old Polk County man found himself behind bars after walking around outside without any clothes on, according to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd.
Deputies arrested Richard Dawson after a neighbor spotted him, took a photograph, and called law enforcement.
“The neighbor sees this goober smoocher wandering around outside naked and takes a picture of him with his camera, notifies the sheriff’s office,” Judd said.
By the time deputies arrived at the scene, Dawson had put on a pair of shorts. When questioned by investigators about why he was outdoors unclothed, Dawson claimed he was preparing to get dressed.
“He said, ‘Well, I was getting ready to change my clothes,'” Judd said.
Dawson was taken into custody and transported to the county jail on charges related to indecent exposure.
“He did change his clothes when we arrested him,” Judd said. “He changed his clothes from street clothes into orange clothes at the county jail.”
Judd concluded by reminding residents to remain fully clothed outside, noting that neighbors should not be subjected to public nudity.
