Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd delivered a scathing rebuke to a high-ranking Chicago Police Department official for allegedly instructing officers not to respond to a plea for help from federal agents who were reportedly under attack this past weekend.

Sheriff Judd, a veteran law enforcement officer, expressed shock and grave concern over the incident, stating he has “never heard of one law enforcement agency not helping another when they call for help. Until this weekend.”

The chief, identified as a Chief of Patrol Operations, reportedly took to the radio to tell his officers “NOT TO RESPOND to assist federal agents who were under attack” by individuals the Sheriff described as “clearly violating the law.”

“That’s scary,” Judd said. He characterized the decision as a dangerous precedent, calling it “a slippery slope. A real slippery slope.”

In contrast, Sheriff Judd highlighted a recent incident in Polk County where a massive law enforcement response—including a helicopter, canine units, and 50 officers—was deployed to apprehend a single man who violently resisted and evaded ICE agents.

“We found that guy who violently resisted ICE, and we locked him up,” Judd affirmed, underscoring his agency’s commitment to supporting all law enforcement partners and upholding the rule of law.

Judd warned that allowing such actions to go unchecked invites chaos. “If you allow Anarchists. And criminals. To run wild in your community. People will die. People will be shot.”

The Sheriff called on other law enforcement leaders across the state and nation to publicly condemn the Chicago chief’s alleged order.

“You need to be standing up, saying these same exact thing that I am. When you have a breakdown of the rule of law? When you allow? Narcist. Criminals to take over the streets. And attack law enforcement officers and then not send them help,” Judd concluded.
